I have been told many times that when you are rejected, it really just means you are being redirected. And while I believed that, it was always hard for me to find proof that it was true.

About three weeks ago, I received an email that I hadn’t been chosen to intern for my dream company in New York City. This news came after the company told me that I was a great candidate, encouraged me to find housing (which is no easy task in Manhattan), and then strung me along for eleven weeks hinting that I had the position. I was heartbroken when I heard that I didn’t get the job, what was I supposed to do with my summer?

After getting back on track and applying applying applying to other internships, I have just been given the opportunity of a lifetime in Thessaloniki,Greece. Thanks to our close friends who helped with connections, I will be interning for Cotton Fashion, a clothing and textiles manufacturer who deals with Spanish brands like Desigual. I will be putting my Spanish to use working with these clients, and getting to enjoy the company of good friends while I am there!

I am so excited to see what this seaside city has in store for me, as always I will be updating this blog with adventures as the summer goes on!

  1. Way to go, Claire. When life whacks you in the head, rebound and do something better. You are a real gift to the future!

And while you’re at it, see what you can do about cleaning up the Greek economy.

  3. Whoo hoo! What a great opportunity. Desigual has such a unique, exciting and bold clothing collection; it’s wonderful that you will have the opportunity to work on a distrinct and European company. I’m very glad for you and will be happily following your adventures. Let me know if you make it to Switzerland!
